Spray Elastomers are traditionally used as polyurethane spray-on coatings which offer high elongation and tensile strengths with resistance to chemicals and weather.

Polyurethane vs. Polyurea vs. Hybrid
Choosing the best type of polyurethane spray coating is largely dependent on your application’s needs. Polyurea sprays offer the best performance, while polyurethane sprays offer effective coating solutions at a fraction of the cost.
Polyurea spray coatings differ from hybrid and polyurethane spray coatings due to the urea linkages created between the isocyanate and a polyamine. Due to the high concentration of urea linkages, the weatherability and chemical resistance is better than a traditional polyurethane. Polyurea’s are often recommended for applications where the material will be exposed to weather or chemicals for an extended period. Applications can be tank liners, industrial coatings, and other protective coatings.
Polyurethane spray coatings may have some urea linkages, but not as high of a concentration as a pure polyurea. Polyurethane coatings will still provide great physical properties and weatherability but will not outperform a pure polyurea.
Hybrid coatings take the best of both pure polyurethane and pure polyurea sprays. Hybrid systems offer the best performance for cost. Hybrid coatings are most prevalent in truck bed liners, movie set designs, architectural coatings, and general protective coatings.

Patching Systems
Eteco, Inc.’s series of patching systems is comprised of two-component polyurethane elastomers with Shore Hardnesses ranging from 55 D to 80 D. These materials are each supplied as liquid but once mixed, the system becomes thixotropic, allowing for easy brushing or spreading on vertical walls. Once fully cured, each material is tough and flexible with high impact resistance. Eteco, Inc.’s patching systems can be used as an adhesive, coating, or as a patch material for spray urethanes. They can be applied with a brush, paint stick, or trowel.
